Introducing RateSwitch: Automated Rate Switching for Solar Club Members

parkpower · 2 June 2026 · Consumer Info, Electricity, Solar Power

We are pleased to announce a gift from the Solar Club™: Automatic rate switching is now available to the Solar Club! You asked for it and we’re happy to deliver.

Introducing RateSwitch™, the next step in the evolution of our Pre-Bill Feature. RateSwitch leverages Pre-Bill Data to determine the optimal dates for switching between rates and automates this process for you.

The RateSwitch launch will occur in two phases:

  1. In Phase 1 (Dec 2025 – Feb 2026), all Solar Club Members received an email to get started. This email will explain how RateSwitch works and provided some documents to read. It also contained a link to a Google Form for you to fill out as your “Pre-Enrollment” for RateSwitch.
  2. In Phase 2 (Spring 2026), we have updated the My Account portal with a toggle for you to activate it at your leisure.

How It Works

Through Pre-Bill, you already receive monthly updates showing your net status (“You will be a net IMPORTER on your next invoice”, “You will be a net EXPORTER on your next invoice”, or “No data available”). RateSwitch takes this process one step further by switching you between the HI and LO Rates of your Membership Group when your status changes.

  • If your status changes from IMPORTER to EXPORTER, you will be switched to your Membership Group’s HI Rate.
  • If your status changes from EXPORTER to IMPORTER, you will be switched to your Membership Group’s LO Rate.
  • If we have not received data from your wires company (and your status is “No data available”), no switch will occur.
  • If your status does not change from one month to the next, no switch will occur.

Because RateSwitch will flip you between the HI Rate and the LO Rate, you must be on a Solar Club rate to access this feature. You can manually submit a rate change at any time (to another Solar Club rate), which will override the system temporarily. If you manually switch to a regular fixed rate or a variable rate, RateSwitch will stop.

Requirements

To access the RateSwitch Feature, the following conditions must be met:

  • Only sites designated for micro-generation are eligible.
  • You must be on a Solar Club HI Rate or LO Rate (Pre-Solar Rates are ineligible).
  • You must acknowledge that you’ve read and understood the terms and conditions.

Potential Risks

By opting in to the RateSwitch Program, you acknowledge that the system will initiate rate switches on your behalf based on data received from the wires company.

There will be instances where the data we receive may lead to non-optimal switches. Such anomalies include:

  • Cancel/rebills
  • Missing data
  • Misalignment of import and export dates

It’s important to note that in some rural areas, wires companies are also dependent on telecommunications to access meter data without rolling a truck to read a single meter.

Wires companies and the Solar Club make every available effort to validate and verify data before bill runs occur, but sometimes little gremlins slip through the cracks.

Before you sign up, please read our terms and conditions .

How Do I Sign Up?

To get access to this amazing feature, you must be enrolled with an Energy Marketer who offers Solar Club rates, and be signed up for a Solar Club HI Rate or LO Rate. If that’s already done, great, you’re well on your way to taking advantage of RateSwitch.

Turn “On” RateSwitch for your micro-generation account. In a few months, you can toggle RateSwitch On or Off from your My Account portal.

That’s it! Easy!

What’s Next?

The first round of automatic rate switches occured on the February 2026 bill runs in time for the spring switching season.

This marks an exciting new chapter for the Solar Club, one that will further propel it beyond the reach of our competitors. As one of our most highly requested features, we are delighted to bring RateSwitch to life for you.
